Video Editing Basics
Master the fundamentals of video editing in TellFrame.
Getting Started with Editing
Selecting Elements
- Click on any element in the canvas to select it
- Deselect - Click on empty canvas area
Moving Elements
- Select an element
- Drag it to a new position
- Use arrow keys for precise movement
- Hold Shift while dragging to constrain movement
Resizing Elements
- Select an element
- Drag the corners to resize
Working with Scenes
Adding Scenes
- Click Add Scene in the timeline
- Or duplicate an existing scene
- Customize the new scene
Reordering Scenes
- Drag and drop scenes in the timeline
- Scenes will automatically reorder
- Transitions adjust automatically
Splitting Scenes
- Select a scene
- Position playhead where you want to split
- Click Split Scene
- Creates two separate scenes
Deleting Scenes
- Select a scene
- Click on Remove Scene
- Or select and press Delete key
Text Editing
Adding Captions
- Go to Captions tab
- Type your text
- Customize in the toolbar under the player
Caption Styling
- Font - Choose from hundreds of fonts
- Size - Adjust with slider or input
- Color - Pick from palette or enter hex code
- Alignment - Left, center, right, justify
Text Animation
- Fade In/Out - Smooth appearance
- Slide - Text slides in from sides
- Wipe - Text wipes from left to right
Media Management
Adding Media
- Go to Media tab
- Browse stock library or upload
- Right-click to open the menu and add to scene
- Or drag & drop any media to a scene in the timeline
- Position and resize as needed
Replacing Media
- Select existing media
- Click Change Background in toolbar
- Choose new media
- Maintains position and size
Cropping Media
- Select media element
- Click Crop button
- Adjust crop area
- Apply changes
Video Editing
Split
- Position the playhead where you want to split
- Click on Split button in the timeline
- Your video is split with the captions
Trim
- Click on Trim in the toolbar
- Select the segment you want to trim
- Alternatively you can select the media scene in the timeline, position the playhead then click on I if you want to trim left and O if you want to trim right
Transcribe and add captions
- Click on Transcribe and add captions in the toolbar
- The transcription will start and return captions synced to the speech
- You can edit the transcription by selecting a text scene and clicking on Edit Speech
Audio Editing
Adding Background Music
- Go to Audio tab
- Browse music library
- Preview tracks
- Click to add
Adjusting Volume
- Master volume - Overall video volume
- Speech volume - Voice/narration level
Effects & Filters
Applying Effects
- Select scene or element
- Go to Effects tab
- Choose an effect
- Adjust intensity slider

- Polaroid - Instant camera look with white border
- Film Grain - Classic film texture overlay
- VHS - Retro VHS tape aesthetic with scanlines
- Chromatic Aberration - Color fringing effect at edges
- Glitch - Digital distortion with RGB separation

- Use keyboard shortcuts for speed
- Save frequently - Auto-save helps but manual saves are safer
